Starting from Evans wakes up to being chased by a mysterious guy and to the end of the story, this film really has a fast-paced story development. The costume of this film is very realistic from top to toe Evans's clothes are dirty as it should be like that. Once again Dewanto really shows his skill in acting and it supported by good setting such as the cloths and the place created in the movie.
Perhaps you will be annoyed when Evans speaks from the firs until the end of the film. Despite being a common process in films making, the result ADR (Additional Dialogue Replacement) in this film is not good and it is too obvious. Dewanto’s voice sounds not natural in this movie. His voice is softer than his real voice in the real life which is more rough and manly.
Modus Anomali is a thriller film that is worth watching. Besides the annoying voice of the main character, everything about the films is good. You will be pleased by the well-taken scenes done by the cameramen. You will be satisfied with the good acting and story. Every scene in this movie leads us to both excitement and fear. John Evans (Rio Dewanto) goes on a trip to a deep forest with his wife (Hannah Al Rasyid) and two children (Izzi Isman and Aridh Tritama). A man who was buried alive suddenly comes up from underground. Evans reaches his phone from his pocket and tries to call 112 (Emergency Number in Indonesia). He is so panic that he can’t speak calmly. Long Silence suddenly comes to him when the operator asks his name. He cannot remember everything, even his own name. He runs away trying to get help until he finds a house and comes in, but he only sees his dead wife in there. What is happening? Where are his children? Who did this?
Dewanto really has the important role in the film. He has handsome face, thick mustache, and small eye. His good looking and innocent face make us especially women, take pity on him and curious about what will happen. We can see that he is a great actor from his expression, gesture, and the way he speaks when he faces different moments. Sadness, Desperation, and Viciousness shown by Dewanto as if he experienced the real situation. His role makes us hyped up.
