In this movie, everything is so natural and realistic. Jerikho’s and Basro’s
great acting will make you believe if they said that they have had experience
living like Alek and sari. With minimum makeup and plain costume, the main cast
is dressed realistically. In addition, the setting which takes place in a slum
area makes this film show you the situation of those who live in that place in
Indonesia. This movie also tells you how pirated movies are made in Indonesia.
(Pirated films here in Indonesia is a common thing you can find everywhere)
In this movie, the chemistry of the main actor and actress is so awesome.
They are really suitable for each other; hence, it drags our attention to the
film and makes us feel that we are really there when the whole scene happened. The
setting used in the movie is not many nor does it make you bored. It easier to
understand the story because it does not have a lot of changes in the place
setting. Everything in this film is also so natural. The dialog between the
main cast even the dialog between the supporting cast seems so real that it is
hard to tell that this conversation is scripted. The dialog that are uttered
by the main actor is not too long and used some cursed words when talking just
like young people in Indonesia do when they are talking. In addition, people
talking in the background or the sound of motor cycles machine or the sound of
cars horn can be heard throughout the film.

There is no such thing as perfect in this world. Everything
has a weakness, so does this movie. The pace of A Copy of my Mind is quite slow especially at the beginning of the
film; It took a lot of time to come to the main problem. The film duration is
almost 2 hours and it is too long even though as a watcher you won’t feel it
because you can see the chemistry of the main cast. Still, the production team can make the film
duration to an hour and a half by removing some scenes or making them shorter
so it can make the film more enjoyable.
This film is not a type of romance film you can find anywhere in Indonesia. A Copy of my Mind is a gem that you should watch from Joko Anwar’s movies even if you are not a fan of romance films you still should watch this. This film is good and it has more than just a romance. The film tells you how the process of making pirated films in Indonesia and it also has a good message and cover social issue. You’ll regret it if you don’t watch this film.
